Megaloolithus refers to fossil eggs attributed to a medium-sized titanosaur that lived in what is now Western Europe near the end of the Cretaceous period. These eggs are typically roughly spherical and measure about thirty centimeters in diameter. Differences in egg size and structure have led researchers to suggest that the eggs may not all have come from the same species. Another possibility is that the dinosaurs laying them experienced dietary deficiencies, resulting in reduced calcium and other nutrients needed for proper eggshell formation.
