Oreodont Fossil Collection

Oreodonts (Merycoidodontoidea & Agriochoeridae) are extinct ungulates most closely related to pigs and camels, with no close relatives living today. All were herbivores, with size ranging from that of a modern sheep to a modern cow, and lived in North America during the Oligocene and Miocene periods (48 to 4 million years ago). "Oreodont" means "mountain teeth", referring to the appearance of molars.

Most of their fossils are found in South Dakota, Nebraska, and Wyoming.
