Camarasaurus was a herbivorous sauropod dinosaur that lived during the Late Jurassic Period, approximately 145 to 155 million years ago. Measuring around 18 meters in length and weighing about 25 tons, it was smaller than some of its sauropod contemporaries, such as diplodocids and brachiosaurs.

This dinosaur had a robust build, with strong legs, a thick neck and tail, and a rounded head. Its chisellike, spoon-shaped teeth with sharp points were used to efficiently cut plants. While Allosaurus was a primary predator, adult Camarasaurus were generally too large to be attacked.

Distinctive features include shorter necks and tails, snub-nosed skulls, and nostrils positioned in front of the eyes, unlike brachiosaurs (nostrils above the eyes) or diplodocids (nostrils at the tip of the snout).
