Carcharodontosaurus was one of the largest carnivorous dinosaurs to ever live, dominating the landscapes of Northern Africa during the Late Cretaceous period nearly 100 million years ago. This giant theropod dinosaur belonged to the carcharodontosaurid family, a group of massive prehistoric predators that rivaled the greatest meat-eaters in Earth’s history. Reaching lengths of approximately 12 meters and weighing around 7 tonnes, Carcharodontosaurus combined size, speed, and powerful jaws to become a true apex predator. Its massive skull housed more than 60 long, blade-like teeth, perfectly adapted for slicing through flesh. Unlike some other large predatory dinosaurs, it possessed relatively strong forelimbs ending in three sharp claws used to grip prey. Fossils suggest it hunted large herbivorous dinosaurs and ruled ancient African ecosystems. Because of its impressive size and fearsome appearance, Carcharodontosaurus is one of the most sought-after dinosaurs for educational displays, museum exhibits, and fossil replica collections.
