Otodus sharks remain larger than any present-day carnivorous fish, measuring one and a half times the size of the largest great white shark ever documented. However, this considerable size did not necessarily position Otodus as the apex predator, as it coexisted with other formidable marine hunters such as Basilosaurus, an eighteen-meter predatory whale bearing resemblance to an ancient mosasaur. Nonetheless, Otodus possessed the strength and resilience to contend effectively with most other predators of its era.
