Name: Allosaurus
Type: Carnivore.
Size: 10.5 meters in length
Living between 150 and 144 million years ago, Allosaurus was a formidable carnivore of the Late Jurassic ecosystem. With a body weight of approximately two tons, it combined speed, power, and anatomical efficiency.
The dinosaur’s well-developed tail, accounting for roughly half its body length, played a critical role in balance. Its massive pelvis and muscular hind limbs provided the strength necessary for rapid bursts of movement. The skull was equipped with a prominent ridge before the eyes and rows of large, recurved, razor-sharp teeth adapted for tearing prey. Above the eyes sat a distinctive pair of blunt horns, one of the species’ most recognizable traits. Unlike later tyrannosaurs, Allosaurus retained functional forelimbs, which, though smaller than the hind legs, were capable of grasping with clawed hands.
