The Woolly Rhinoceros was an extinct rhinoceros species that lived throughout Europe and northern Asia during the Pleistocene epoch, surviving until the very end of the last glacial period. As one of the most iconic members of the Pleistocene megafauna, this massive Ice Age herbivore was perfectly adapted to cold climates, roaming vast, frozen steppe environments alongside mammoths and other prehistoric giants.

Adult Woolly Rhinos reached an impressive 9.8 to 12.5 feet in length and weighed between 4,000 and 6,000 pounds. Their thick fur, muscular build, and distinctive curved horns helped them dig through snow to graze on grasses and low vegetation, making them one of the dominant large mammals of their time.

Today, the Woolly Rhinoceros remains a key species in Ice Age paleontology, offering valuable clues about prehistoric ecosystems, climate change, and the evolution of large Pleistocene mammals.
