The Woolly Rhinoceros (Coelodonta antiquitatis) was an extinct species of rhinoceros that roamed across Europe and northern Asia during the Pleistocene epoch. It was a prominent member of the Pleistocene megafauna and survived until the end of the last glacial period.
Adult woolly rhinoceroses could reach lengths of 9.8 to 12.5 feet and weighed between 4,000 and 6,000 pounds. Adapted to the cold, Ice Age environments, they were covered in a thick coat of fur and had large, curved horns that were likely used for defence, foraging through snow, and competing with other rhinos. Their robust bodies and sturdy legs allowed them to traverse the icy steppes, feeding mainly on grasses and other low-lying vegetation.
