Erythrite, also called Red Cobalt or Cobalt Bloom, is a striking arsenate-hydrated cobalt mineral that forms dramatic crusts, clusters, and slender prismatic crystals. As part of the Vivianite group, it often appears alongside other cobalt minerals and even natural silver deposits. While famous for its bold crimson shade, erythrite also captivates in purple, pink, peach, and gray tones. The lighter colors signal a surge in nickel content. Discovered in 1832 in Saxton, Germany, by François Sulpice Beaudant, its name comes from the Greek “Erythros,” meaning “red,” inspired by the vivid color of his first find.
