Hadrosaurus was a genus of hadrosaurid ornithopod dinosaur that lived in North America during the Late Cretaceous period, approximately 80 to 78 million years ago. These primarily quadrupedal dinosaurs weighed between 2 and 4 tons and relied on their strong hind limbs for support, though they could stand on their rear legs to reach higher vegetation or sprint away from predators.

One of the most remarkable features of Hadrosaurus was its highly specialized teeth, with a total of up to 1,400 teeth, allowing for efficient processing of tough plant material. While its forelimbs were less robust than the hind limbs, they were long enough to assist in standing and movement, supporting a versatile lifestyle. Its limb structure closely resembled contemporaries like Kritosaurus and later hadrosaurids such as Edmontosaurus, demonstrating evolutionary continuity in herbivorous dinosaur anatomy.

Hadrosaurus represents an important genus in the study of Late Cretaceous herbivorous dinosaurs, showcasing advanced adaptations for feeding, mobility, and predator avoidance, highlighting the diversity and evolutionary success of hadrosaurid dinosaurs in prehistoric North America.
