Purple Fluorite is a halide mineral composed of calcium fluoride (CaF2) and is prized for its beautiful purple shades, ranging from pale lavender to deep violet. Found in Morocco, a country rich in mineral diversity, this crystal is sourced from areas such as the Atlas and Anti-Atlas Mountains. Purple Fluorite forms in hydrothermal settings where heated fluids interact with surrounding rocks, creating crystals in cubic or octahedral shapes. Its lovely purple color comes from manganese impurities within the crystal. With a glassy shine, a hardness of 4 on the Mohs scale, and smooth cleavage along octahedral planes, it breaks cleanly. Under UV light, this mineral glows in blue or violet, adding to its appeal.
