Purple Fluorite is a beautiful mineral from the halide group, composed of calcium fluoride (CaF₂). It is best known for its striking purple coloration, which ranges from soft lavender to deep violet. This vivid hue results from trace impurities—most notably manganese—within its crystal structure.

Morocco, located in North Africa, is one of the world’s notable sources of Purple Fluorite. Rich in mineral diversity, Morocco’s Atlas and Anti-Atlas Mountains host numerous deposits formed through hydrothermal processes, where heated fluids interact with surrounding rocks to create fluorite veins.

Purple Fluorite crystallizes in the cubic crystal system, commonly forming well-defined cubic or octahedral shapes. It displays a glassy luster and has a hardness of 4 on the Mohs scale, with perfect octahedral cleavage that allows it to split smoothly along flat planes. Under ultraviolet light, this mineral often fluoresces with a captivating blue or violet glow, adding to its aesthetic and scientific appeal.
