Purple Fluorite is a mineral belonging to the halide group composed of calcium fluoride (CaF2). It is known for its vibrant purple color, which can range from pale lavender to deep violet. Morocco is one of the countries where Purple Fluorite is found. Located in North Africa, Morocco is famous for its rich mineral resources. Purple Fluorite deposits can be found in various regions, including the Atlas Mountains and the Anti-Atlas Mountains. These mountain ranges are recognized for their geological diversity, which has led to the formation of various minerals, including Purple Fluorite. Purple Fluorite forms in hydrothermal environments from heated fluids reacting with surrounding rocks. This mineral crystallizes in the cubic crystal system and often appears as octahedral or cubic formations. Its distinctive purple color is due to impurities in the crystal structure, mainly traces of manganese. Besides its unique purple hue, Fluorite has a glassy luster and a hardness of 4 on the Mohs scale. It exhibits perfect cleavage along octahedral planes, enabling it to break into smooth, flat surfaces easily. The mineral also fluoresces under ultraviolet light, emitting a blue or violet glow.
