Hadrosaurus is a genus of hadrosaurid ornithopod dinosaurs that existed in North America during the Late Cretaceous Period, roughly 80 to 78 million years ago. These dinosaurs weighed between 2 and 4 tons and primarily moved on all fours, with their hind legs supporting most of their weight. They were also capable of standing on their hind legs to reach taller plants and could run using only their back legs to escape threats. Their teeth were highly complex, numbering up to 1,400. While their forelimbs were less robust than the hindlimbs, they were sufficiently long to aid in standing and movement. Their appearance was similar to Kritosaurus, a contemporary species, or later hadrosaurids like Edmontosaurus.
