Septarian Dragon Stone:
Septarian is a unique and fascinating stone found in only a few locations around the world. In the United States, notable deposits occur near Zion National Park in Southern Utah, while other significant sources include Mahajanga in Madagascar and Morocco. These stones were formed on ancient seafloors during the Cretaceous Period, approximately 50 to 70 million years ago. Over time, they weathered out of the surrounding gray or tan clay hills and could once be collected directly from the surface. Today, however, excavation typically requires bulldozers, as the nodules are now buried 20 to 30 feet underground. Each septarian nodule is distinct, displaying a wide variety of colors and shapes, making them highly prized for their unusual and striking appearance.
