Grape Agate is a relatively recent discovery, known scientifically as botryoidal purple chalcedony or locally as Manakarra stone, native to Sulawesi Island, Indonesia. Its unique botryoidal formations resemble a cluster of grapes, giving rise to the popular trade name. The term Manakarra comes from the province in western Sulawesi where it is found. Grape Agate occurs in a variety of colors, including purple, blue, and green.
