Otodus sharks were larger than any current predatory fish, measuring about one and a half times the size of the biggest great white shark ever recorded. Despite their impressive size, Otodus sharks were not the top predators of their time, as they coexisted with other formidable creatures like Basilosaurus, an eighteen-meter-long predatory whale resembling a prehistoric mosasaur. Nevertheless, Otodus sharks were powerful enough to compete successfully with most other marine predators.
