Crackle Quartz is a quartz crystal that has been deliberately fractured to create a unique appearance. This effect is achieved by heating natural quartz to high temperatures and then rapidly cooling it, which causes internal fractures. These fractures give the quartz a distinctive cracked or shattered look, often enhanced by adding vibrant dyes. The stone is typically transparent or translucent, with the fractures producing a sparkling effect when light passes through. Selected high-quality quartz crystals are heated between 800 to 1600 degrees Celsius before being cooled quickly. Sometimes, dyes, minerals, or metals are added to the cracks for additional color and visual appeal. Crackle quartz features a complex network of fractures that vary in size and pattern and comes in clear, white, smoky gray, as well as vivid hues like blue, green, and pink. It has a glassy luster with a Mohs hardness of 7, making it fairly durable, though its fractures make it more delicate than other quartz varieties.
