Hadrosaurus was a genus of hadrosaurid dinosaurs that lived in North America during the Late Cretaceous period (80–78 million years ago). These herbivorous dinosaurs weighed between 2 and 4 tons and were primarily quadrupedal, though they could rise onto their hind limbs to feed on taller vegetation or escape predators. Their complex dental battery, with up to 1,400 teeth, allowed this duck-billed dinosaur to process tough plants efficiently. The forelimbs, though less strong than the hind limbs, supported standing and movement. Limb and dental adaptations were similar to Kritosaurus and later hadrosaurids like Edmontosaurus, making Hadrosaurus a key example of Late Cretaceous herbivorous dinosaurs.
