Hadrosaurus is a genus of hadrosaurid ornithopod dinosaurs that roamed North America during the Late Cretaceous Period, roughly 80 to 78 million years ago. These dinosaurs weighed between 2 and 4 tons and typically moved on all fours, with their hind legs supporting most of their weight. They could also stand on their hind legs to reach higher vegetation and run bipedally to escape predators. Their teeth were highly complex, numbering up to 1,400. Although their forelimbs were less robust than their hind limbs, they were long enough to assist in standing and movement. Hadrosaurus resembled Kritosaurus, which lived in the same era and region, as well as later hadrosaurids like Edmontosaurus.
