Brachylophosaurus was a medium-sized hadrosaurid dinosaur that lived approximately 76.5 million years ago, known from the Judith River Formation in Montana and the Oldman Formation in Alberta. This dinosaur grew to around 9 meters in length and weighed roughly 7 metric tons. It is characterized by a distinctive bony crest that forms a flat, paddle-shaped plate on its skull. Brachylophosaurus had notably long forelimbs and a wider upper jaw beak compared to other hadrosaurs of its time. Its specialized cheeks helped keep food in place, and its teeth allowed for effective chewing—a rare trait among reptiles but typical for ornithischian dinosaurs like this species.
