Hadrosaurus is a genus of hadrosaurid ornithopods that inhabited North America during the Late Cretaceous Period, approximately 80 to 78 million years ago. These dinosaurs weighed between 2 to 4 tons and were predominantly quadrupedal, relying on powerful hind limbs for support. However, they retained the ability to elevate themselves onto their hind legs to access higher vegetation or to move bipedally when evading predators. Their dentition was highly complex, featuring up to 1,400 teeth. The forelimbs, while less robust than the hindlimbs, were sufficiently long to assist in locomotion or support. Morphologically, Hadrosaurus resembled Kritosaurus, a contemporary genus, as well as later hadrosaurids such as Edmontosaurus.
