Upper Cretaceous 99-65 Million Years old

Pycnodontiforms, extinct ray-finned fishes from the Actinopterygii class, rocked the Jurassic seas between 200 and 146 million years ago. These small to medium fighters featured flattened, circular bodies built for shallow waters. Armed with unique jaws sporting round, flattened teeth, they were crushing machines—perfect for breaking down tough prey. Some even ventured into rivers, snacking on mollusks and crustaceans, proving they dominated more than just the ocean depths.

Found in rock formations in Africa, Asia, Europe, and North and South America.
