Late Cretaceous, 67 Million Years Old

Name: Nanotryannus

Type: Carnivore

Size: 5 meters in length.

Nanotryannus, meaning 'dwarf tyrant', is a problematic genus of tyrannosaurid dinosaur, possibly a juvenile form of Tyrannosaurus, known only from a small skull dating to roughly 72.1 to 66 million years ago. The main differences between Nanotyrannus and Tyrannosaurus Rex include the number of teeth in their jaws and the fused bones in Nanotyrannus. It had 14-15 teeth on each side of the upper jaw (maxilla) and 16 on each side of the lower jaw, while T. rex typically had 11-12 in the upper jaw and 11-14 in the lower. These dinosaurs likely hunted in pairs or packs, targeting large Late Cretaceous prey such as ceratopsians and hadrosaurs.
