Abelisauridae, or "Abel's lizards," were fierce ceratosaurian theropods that ruled the Cretaceous period, famously known as the Kem Kem Abelisaurs. The Abelisaurus genus, unveiled by Argentine paleontologists in 1985, marked the emergence of this deadly clan of carnivores. Dominating southern lands like South America and Africa, these medium to large predators were no ordinary dinosaurs. Fossils from Morocco reveal beasts weighing around 2,000 kg, primitive yet powerful hunters sharing the stage with giants like Carcharodontosaurus and Spinosaurus—true titans of their era.
