Carcharodontosaurus was a giant carnivorous dinosaur and one of the largest theropod predators of the Late Cretaceous period, living approximately 95–100 million years ago in what is now Northern Africa. Known for its enormous size and distinctive shark-like teeth, this prehistoric predator belongs to the carcharodontosaurid group of massive meat-eating dinosaurs. At around 12 meters long and weighing several tonnes, Carcharodontosaurus combined speed, size, and a specialized slicing bite to dominate its environment. Its skull contained over 60 long, serrated teeth that allowed it to efficiently tear flesh, making it highly adapted for hunting large herbivorous dinosaurs. As an apex predator, Carcharodontosaurus played a critical ecological role and remains one of the most famous African dinosaurs in paleontology. Its fossils continue to inspire research, educational exhibits, and dinosaur enthusiasts seeking to understand the largest carnivorous dinosaurs in history.
