Name: Brachylophosaurus
Type: Herbivore
Size: About 9 meters long.
Brachylophosaurus was a mid-sized hadrosaurid dinosaur that lived approximately 76.5 million years ago in what is now Montana (Judith River Formation) and Alberta (Oldman Formation). Adults could reach lengths of up to 9 meters and weigh around 7 metric tons.
One of its most distinctive features is the bony crest, forming a flat, paddle-like plate atop its skull. Brachylophosaurus also had unusually long forelimbs and a wider upper jaw beak compared to other hadrosaurs. Its cheeks and specialized teeth allowed it to efficiently chew plant material, a rare adaptation among reptiles but common in ornithischian dinosaurs, highlighting its sophisticated feeding strategy.
