Otodus sharks were larger than any present-day carnivorous fish, measuring one and a half times the size of the largest great white shark ever recorded. However, their impressive size did not make them the sole apex predator, as they coexisted with other formidable creatures like Basilosaurus, an eighteen-meter-long predatory whale resembling an ancient mosasaur. Despite this, Otodus sharks were strong competitors and capable of defending themselves against most other predators in their marine environment.
