Edmontosaurus was a large duck-billed hadrosaurid dinosaur that lived during the Late Cretaceous Maastrichtian stage, approximately 71 to 65 million years ago, across what is now North America. This herbivorous dinosaur was among the largest plant-eaters of its time, with adults commonly reaching lengths of around 9 meters and some individuals growing up to 13 meters long. Weighing roughly 3.5 tonnes, Edmontosaurus played a major role in prehistoric ecosystems as a dominant grazing herbivore.

Its most remarkable adaptation was its advanced dental battery, consisting of sixty rows of continuously replacing teeth designed for grinding tough vegetation. Strong cheek tissues helped move plant material across these teeth, allowing Edmontosaurus to efficiently feed on conifer needles, seeds, and woody plants. Fossil discoveries have also revealed detailed skin impressions covered with scales and small tubercles, giving this dinosaur a distinctive textured appearance. Capable of moving both on two legs and on all fours, Edmontosaurus combined stability and mobility to thrive in changing Late Cretaceous environments.
