Name: Hadrosaurus

Type: Herbivore

Size: 7 to 8 meters in length

Hadrosaurus was a genus of hadrosaurid dinosaurs that roamed North America during the Late Cretaceous period, about 80 to 78 million years ago. These herbivorous dinosaurs weighed between 2 and 4 tons and were primarily quadrupedal, though they could stand on their hind limbs to reach taller vegetation or escape predators.

A defining feature of Hadrosaurus was its complex dental battery, with up to 1,400 teeth, allowing this duck-billed dinosaur to efficiently grind tough plant material. Its forelimbs, though less powerful than the hind limbs, were long enough to aid in standing, movement, and foraging.

The limb and feeding adaptations of Hadrosaurus were similar to those of contemporaries like Kritosaurus and later hadrosaurids such as Edmontosaurus, showing evolutionary trends among herbivorous dinosaurs. With its specialized teeth, adaptive limbs, and duck-billed snout, Hadrosaurus is a prominent example of Late Cretaceous North American dinosaurs and one of the most fascinating hadrosaurid dinosaurs for studying prehistoric herbivorous species.
