Name: Allosaurus

Type: Carnivore.

Size: 10.5 meters in length

Allosaurus ranks among the most recognizable predatory dinosaurs of the Late Jurassic, thriving approximately 150–144 million years ago. Weighing close to two tons, it was built for active predation.

Its anatomy reflected classic theropod design: a long, muscular tail extending to nearly half its body length, strong hind limbs anchored by a heavy pelvis, and a large skull armed with laterally compressed, sharp, recurved teeth. The skull also bore a rough ridge in front of the eyes and a pair of blunt horns above and slightly forward of the eye sockets. These features contributed to both its predatory efficiency and its distinctive appearance. Though smaller than its hind limbs, the forelimbs remained functional and clawed, enabling Allosaurus to grip prey—unlike the reduced arms of later tyrannosaur species.
