Mosasaurs were the largest lizards to ever roam the Earth, growing up to nearly 60 feet long with massive skulls measuring 6 feet. As formidable swimmers, they lived exclusively in the sea, equipped with powerful bodies, finned tails, and limbs designed for efficient swimming. Their snake-like movements, combined with webbed feet for steering, made them exceptional marine predators. These impressive reptiles thrived during the late Cretaceous period, from about 96 to 65 million years ago. Feeding on fish, turtles, and shellfish, mosasaurs shared their era with dinosaurs before both vanished in the Cretaceous-Tertiary extinction. Owning a fossil like this brings a fascinating piece of prehistoric ocean life into your collection.

Please be aware of the nature of fossils:

Being buried under the ground for millions of years under tons of pressure tends to be rough. No fossil comes out of the ground whole and perfect. Most fossils have undergone some restoration, while others are altered by man simply to enhance their presentation in different ways. The workers in the United States do a very professional job of unearthing and preserving these natural treasures; however, natural cracks are commonly visible on the surface. These are part of the natural beauty of the fossil and are not considered defects.
