The Abelisauridae family (“Abel’s lizards”) includes medium to large ceratosaurian theropods that thrived in the Cretaceous period. The type genus Abelisaurus, described in 1985, is a key species for understanding the evolution of southern predators.

These carnivorous dinosaurs lived across South America and Africa, weighing around 2,000 kilograms, and coexisted with apex predators such as Carcharodontosaurus and Spinosaurus. Abelisaurus had a compact skull, strong jaws, and powerful hind limbs, ideal for hunting sizable prey.

Ideal for collectors and educators, Abelisaurus demonstrates Cretaceous predator-prey dynamics, ceratosaurian adaptations, and prehistoric predatory power.
