Cretaceous Age 66-83.5 million years old.

 Name: Triceratops

Type: Herbivore

Size: 8 to 9 meters long.

Triceratops was one of the largest herbivores roaming Late Cretaceous North America around 68 million years ago. This quadrupedal dinosaur weighed between 5 and 9 metric tons and was equipped with a massive skull, short bony frill, and three distinct horns—two brow horns above the eyes and a smaller nasal horn—perfect for defense against predators.

Triceratops shared its habitat with apex predators such as Tyrannosaurus rex, forcing these herbivores to develop formidable defenses. Fossil evidence, including healed punctures and bite marks, confirms that Triceratops frequently survived attacks, using its horns and spiked frill to fend off attacks. Herd behavior enhanced protection, allowing adults to shield juveniles during predator encounters.

Its powerful jaws and robust skull enabled Triceratops to graze on low-lying vegetation efficiently while remaining vigilant. As one of the most iconic ceratopsian dinosaurs, Triceratops provides crucial insight into predator-prey dynamics and survival strategies in the Late Cretaceous.
