Cretaceous Age 66-83.5 million years old.

 Name: Triceratops

Type: Herbivore

Size: 8 to 9 meters long.

Triceratops was equipped with some of the most sophisticated defensive adaptations among herbivorous dinosaurs. Living in North America around 68 million years ago, Triceratops weighed between 5 and 9 metric tons and bore a large skull with two long brow horns, a smaller nasal horn, and a spiked bony frill.

These physical features allowed Triceratops to deter predators like Tyrannosaurus rex, using its horns as offensive and defensive weapons. Fossils reveal healed injuries, indicating that Triceratops survived repeated encounters. The frill, while protective, may have also served as a visual display to intimidate rivals or predators, adding another layer to its survival strategy.

The combination of horns, frill, and massive body size made Triceratops a formidable presence in Late Cretaceous ecosystems. These adaptations highlight the evolutionary arms race between herbivores and carnivores during this period.
