Hadrosaurus was a genus of hadrosaurid dinosaurs that lived in North America during the Late Cretaceous period, around 80 to 78 million years ago. These herbivorous dinosaurs weighed between 2 and 4 tons and primarily walked on all fours. They could also rise onto their hind limbs to reach taller plants or escape predators, showcasing their versatile locomotion.

A standout feature of Hadrosaurus was its complex dental battery, containing up to 1,400 teeth, allowing it to efficiently chew tough plant material. Its forelimbs, though less robust than the hind limbs, were long enough to assist in standing, movement, and feeding. The limb structure and feeding adaptations of Hadrosaurus were similar to contemporaries like Kritosaurus and later hadrosaurids such as Edmontosaurus, highlighting evolutionary trends among herbivorous dinosaurs.

With its duck-billed snout, specialized teeth, and adaptive limbs, Hadrosaurus is an important example of Late Cretaceous North American dinosaurs. It illustrates the advanced feeding strategies and mobility of hadrosaurid dinosaurs, making it a key species for understanding the diversity and success of prehistoric herbivorous dinosaurs.
