Unakite is a metamorphic rock composed primarily of pink orthoclase feldspar, green epidote, and quartz. It is typically found in shades of green and pink, with mottled patterns that give it a unique and visually appealing appearance. Due to its attractive coloration and texture, Unakite is widely used in jewelry, beads, cabochons, carvings, and decorative stones.
Unakite forms through the metamorphism of granite, during which plagioclase feldspar in the granite is transformed into orthoclase feldspar and epidote. This process occurs deep within the Earth’s crust under high-pressure and high-temperature conditions. The combination of these minerals produces Unakite’s characteristic pink-and-green coloration, making it easily recognizable and highly valued for both ornamental and decorative uses.
