The Woolly Rhinoceros (Coelodonta antiquitatis) was a prehistoric species that roamed Europe and northern Asia during the Pleistocene and survived until the close of the last Ice Age. As part of the region’s megafauna, it was well adapted to cold climates, covered in a thick coat of fur and equipped with a large, curved horn.

Adult woolly rhinos typically measured 9.8–12.5 feet long and weighed between 4,000 and 6,000 pounds. They were herbivores that grazed on the hardy grasses of the Ice Age steppes. The species eventually disappeared as warming climates transformed their habitat and reduced the open grasslands they depended on.
