The mighty Otodus shark dwarfed today’s carnivorous fish, growing up to 1.5 times larger than the biggest great white shark ever recorded. But size alone didn’t guarantee it the title of apex predator. These ancient giants shared their oceans with formidable hunters like Basilosaurus, an enormous 18-meter predatory whale that looked more like a mosasaur. Even so, Otodus was a fearsome force of nature, capable of matching nearly any rival in its prehistoric seas.
