Name: Camarasaurus
Diet: Herbivore
Size: 18 meters in length
Camarasaurus was a large herbivorous dinosaur that roamed the Earth during the Late Jurassic Period, approximately 145–155 million years ago. Reaching lengths of up to 18 meters and weighing around 25 tons, it was smaller than some of its sauropod contemporaries like diplodocids and brachiosaurs, yet still impressively massive.
This dinosaur featured a robust body with strong legs, a thick neck and tail, and a rounded, snub-nosed head. Its spoon-shaped, chisellike teeth were perfectly adapted for cutting plant material. While predators like Allosaurus existed, adult Camarasaurus were typically too large to be attacked.
Distinctive features include shorter necks and tails, nostrils positioned in front of the eyes, and a powerful sauropod build, making Camarasaurus a fascinating example of Late Jurassic herbivores and a popular choice for educational displays, models, and dinosaur collections.
