Goniatite Ammonite

Ammonoids were marine creatures that thrived from the Devonian to the Cretaceous periods. Their name comes from the distinctive "ram's horn" shape of their shells, inspired by the Egyptian god Amun, who was often shown with ram’s horns. Although they resemble modern Nautiloids, their closest living relatives are believed to be octopuses, squids, and cuttlefish. Their shells were made up of chambers divided by septa, and the way these septa connected to the outer shell formed unique suture patterns used to identify different ammonoids. Early Goniatites feature a smooth zigzag "Goniatitic" pattern, while later Ammonites display more detailed, fern-like sutures.
