Agate encompasses many beautiful types of banded Chalcedony, a Quartz family mineral. It gets its name from the Achates River in Sicily, where these stunning stones were first discovered. Typically showing layers or stripes, some Agates dazzle with “eye” patterns, colorful specks, fossilized details, or can even be solid. Often called the earth’s rainbow, Agate displays concentric bands in almost every imaginable natural color—even clear forms—making each piece truly unique!
