Septarian Dragon Stone:
Septarian is a unique stone found in only a few locations around the world. In the United States, notable deposits occur near Zion National Park in Southern Utah, while other sources include Mahajanga in Madagascar and Morocco. Formed on ancient seafloors during the Cretaceous Period, approximately 50–70 million years ago, these stones developed through a combination of sedimentation and mineralization processes. Originally, septarian nodules could be collected directly from the surface as they weathered out of gray or tan clay hills. Today, however, bulldozers are required to excavate them from depths of 20–30 feet. Each nodule is distinctive, varying greatly in color, pattern, and shape, making every piece truly one-of-a-kind.
