Name: Camarasaurus

Diet: Herbivore

Size: 18 meters in length

Camarasaurus, a genus from the Late Jurassic period around 145 to 155 million years ago, measured up to 18 meters in length, making it moderately smaller than contemporaneous sauropods like diplodocids and brachiosaurs. This robust 25-ton herbivore featured strong limbs, a sturdy neck and tail, and a rounded cranial structure. Its pointed, chisellike teeth were adapted for efficiently processing plant material. While Allosaurus posed the primary predation threat, mature Camarasaurus individuals were typically too large for predators to target. They are identifiable by their relatively shorter necks and tails, snub-nosed skulls, prominent spoon-shaped teeth, and nostrils positioned anterior to the eyes—a distinct contrast to brachiosaur and diplodocid nasal placement.
