Name: Camarasaurus
Diet: Herbivore
Size: 18 meters in length
Camarasaurus was a group of dinosaurs that lived during the Late Jurassic Period, roughly 145 to 155 million years ago. They measured about 18 meters in length and were smaller than some of their sauropod contemporaries, like diplodocids and brachiosaurs. This herbivore, weighing around 25 tons, was robust, with strong legs, a thick neck and tail, and a rounded head. Their chisellike teeth, featuring sharp points, were used to cut plants. While Allosaurus was their main predator, adult Camarasaurus were usually too large to be attacked. They can be identified by their shorter necks and tails, shorter, snub-nosed skulls, and large, spoon-shaped teeth. Their nostrils were located in front of the eyes, unlike brachiosaurs, which have them above the eyes, or diplodocids, where they are at the tip of the snout.
