Abelisauridae, or "Abel's lizards," were fierce ceratosaurian theropods dominating the Cretaceous period, also called the Kem Kem Abelisaur. The Abelisaurus genus, unveiled by Argentine paleontologists in 1985, marked the dawn of this bold clan of carnivorous dinosaurs, ruling southern continents like South America and Africa. These medium to large predators, with fossils from Morocco hinting at weights near 2,000 kg, stood as early, formidable members of their kind. They shared their deadly domain with giants like Carcharodontosaurus and Spinosaurus, proving the raw power and dominance of their era.
