Lambeosaurus is a genus of hadrosaurid dinosaur that lived approximately 75 million years ago during the Late Cretaceous period in North America. It is known for its duck-billed appearance and a distinctive hatchet-shaped hollow bony crest on top of its skull, likely used for defense or as a weapon. Its long tail, reinforced with ossified tendons, prevented drooping. The species were robust, with strong, long front and hind legs, and used their long tail for balance while walking. These herbivorous dinosaurs fed on pine needles, conifers, ginkgoes, seeds, cycads, twigs, and magnolia leaves. Notably, the crest varied between the two well-known species.
