Septarian Dragon Stone:

Septarian is a unique stone found in only a few places on Earth. In the USA, septarians are located near Zion National Park in Southern Utah. They are also found in Mahajanga, Madagascar, and Morocco. These stones were formed on an ancient seafloor during the Cretaceous Period (50–70 million years ago). Originally, the nodules could be collected from the surface as they weathered out of the gray or tan clay hills. Today, excavation typically requires bulldozers, as the nodules are often 20–30 feet underground. Septarian nodules are visually striking and vary widely in color and shape.

• Brown lines: Aragonite

• Gray rock: Bentonite

• White or clear portions: Barite

Septarian is also known as “Dragon Stone”, a name derived from an old Malagasy legend.
