Septarian Dragon Stone:

Septarian is a unique stone found in only a few places on Earth. In the USA, septarians are found near Zion National Park in Southern Utah, and they are also sourced from Mahajanga in Madagascar and Morocco. These stones formed on ancient seafloors during the Cretaceous Period (50–70 million years ago). As they weathered out of gray or tan clay hills, they could once be collected directly from the surface. Today, excavation typically requires bulldozers, as the nodules are usually buried 20–30 feet underground. Septarian nodules are visually striking and vary considerably in color and shape.

Composition of Septarian Nodules:

• Yellow centers: Calcite

• Brown lines: Aragonite

• Gray rock: Bentonite

• White or clear: Barite

Septarian is also known as “Dragon Stone”, a name derived from an old Malagasy legend.
