The Spinosaurus lived in North Africa during the Cretaceous period, about 100 million years ago. This theropod dinosaur is thought to be the largest and longest of its species, measuring up to 49 feet and weighing as much as 6 tons. It is currently recognized as the world’s largest carnivorous dinosaur, even bigger than the Tyrannosaurus Rex. With a long, narrow skull resembling a massive crocodile and distinctive long spines rising from its vertebrae that likely formed a sail covered with skin, the Spinosaurus earned its name, which means "spine lizard."

Please be aware of the nature of fossils:
Being buried under the ground for millions of years under tons of pressure tends to be rough. No fossil comes out of the ground whole and perfect. Most fossils have undergone some restoration, while others are altered by man simply to enhance their presentation in different ways. The workers in Morocco do a very professional job of unearthing and preserving these natural treasures; however, natural cracks are commonly visible on the surface. These are part of the natural beauty of the fossil and are not considered defects.
